Wine Aerator & Wine Decanter

What You Need to Know about a Whine Aerator

Why should you use a wine aerator? The answer is easy – to get the most out of the wine you are just about to enjoy. By letting the wine breath and mix it flavors with the air, a wine’s aroma is going to open up. It sounds a little weird if you are new to wine, but the overall flavor of a wine can improve dramatically if the wine is properly aerated.

This will not work with every wine. The prime wine to be used with an aerator is red wine. There are only a small number of white wines that would improve their flavor as dramatically as red wine if used with a wine decanter or wine aerator. Aerating wine by hand can take between 15 minutes and several hours depending on the wine. You cut down this time to a minute (or less) by using a wine aerator (like the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator) without sacrificing quality at the same time. Don’t be fooled – just opening a bottle of wine and letting it sit open for 15 minutes will do nothing to the flavor. There is not enough room in the top of the bottle to circulate air. You would either need high quality wine glasses or a wine aerator to properly aerate your wine.
